AVILOO elevates battery diagnostics for EVs and plug-in hybrids
AVILOO, the global market leader in independent battery testing for determining the health status of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, headquartered in Austria, announces a major step forward in transparency, safety, and clarity in the used EV market. As of June 23rd, customers will benefit from an enhanced and more comprehensive battery diagnosis, made possible by the independent battery certificate and the AVILOO Certified seal of quality—offering a significantly more distinct alternative to conventional diagnostic methods currently available on the market.
The certificate is based on a comprehensive update to the FLASH Test, which is now more powerful, precise, and informative than ever. Results are presented in a new, user-friendly format called the AVILOO PREVIEW, designed to be easily understood by both experts and non-experts. The detailed analysis is delivered with the same speed as before—just three minutes from connecting the AVILOO test box to receiving the certificate via email. The improved Battery Certificate is available at no additional cost to FLASH Test customers and is automatically activated for all license holders, including car dealers, fleet operators, leasing companies, and auction houses.
Key Features of the Battery Certificate:
AVILOO CERTIFIED – a seal of Trust
With the product update, the relaunched certificate now includes the new AVILOO CERTIFIED seal (provided no defects or anomalies are detected). This quality mark symbolizes a risk-free used EV purchase, offering clarity, trust, and security for all market participants.
Even more precise SoH indication
Improved data quality and enhanced algorithms increase the accuracy of the State of Health (SoH) assessment. AVILOO’s database has been growing exponentially since 2019, enabling increasingly precise analyses and reinforcing the company’s position as the global industry standard for safe battery diagnostics. Most importantly, the identification of “red flags” helps customers avoid purchasing defective vehicles.
Benchmarking
For the first time, the optimized battery certificate includes benchmarking, showing how the tested battery compares to those in similar vehicles—based on battery size, mileage, and age. Thanks to AVILOO’s world-leading battery database, reliable comparative analyses can be generated from hundreds of thousands of test results.
Heatmap – cell level transparency
The new heatmap visualization provides additional transparency at the cell level, including interpretations of any anomalies. Potential defects and their locations are graphically displayed, allowing users to instantly see how many and which cells are affected, and how severe the damage is. The intuitive design makes it easy to understand, even for non-experts.
Range insights
For the first time, the battery certificate shows the actual achievable range of the tested vehicle. It also compares this range to the WLTP value and to the typical range of similar vehicles in the AVILOO database.
Intuitive, understandable, compact – the AVILOO PREVIEW
Just as the plug-and-play test process is quick and self-explanatory, interpreting the certificate is equally simple. The new AVILOO PREVIEW offers a visual summary of the FLASH test’s key results, making it easy to upload to sales platforms. This feature enhances transparency by confirming the technical inspection of the drive battery, displaying the independently determined SoH, and verifying the functionality of key battery components.
CEO Marcus Berger on the independent battery certificate:
"The AVILOO battery test elevates battery diagnostics to a new technological level. Through our detailed analysis process, customers receive an accurate and independent assessment of their vehicle’s battery health—something that cannot be achieved through a standard SoH readout. This is because only AVILOO independently calculates the State of Health (SoH) rather than merely extracting a value from the vehicle. An international study from 2024 demonstrates that the use of independent, recognized battery certificates leads to profit increases for dealers of at least €550 to €1,100. End customers place greater trust in remarketers who offer an AVILOO certificate, and thanks to the added security and transparency, a higher percentage of customers are willing to purchase a used EV. In short, a win-win situation for all market participants—ultimately benefiting everyone involved."
