Pete Melville, Technical Director and founder of HEVRA (Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Repair Alliance), attended the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, following a nomination by the Department for Transport. The invitation recognises the transformative role HEVRA continues to play in supporting the maintenance of electric vehicles across the UK.

Founded by Pete Melville, HEVRA has grown into a national network helping independent garages become specialists in electric and hybrid vehicle repair. The organisation bridges the gap between drivers and trusted local repairers, ensuring safety, quality, and convenience during the UK’s transition to electric mobility.

Pete Melville said: “I started HEVRA with a simple goal, to make it easier for garages to become experts in electric vehicles, and for customers to find them. I love the unremarkable stories. Someone having an issue with their car, finding a garage through HEVRA, and getting it sorted. It might not sound glamorous, but that’s exactly what it’s for, and it makes me very proud.”

Stuart James, Chief Executive of the Independent Garage Association (IGA), added: “Pete’s recognition at the Royal Garden Party is a testament to the enormous contribution HEVRA has made to the independent garage sector. As the UK embraces electric vehicles, HEVRA ensures that drivers can access reliable service while helping garages stay relevant and thrive in a changing market.”
