Cord launches EVIRA – a portable EV charger

EVIRA delivers up to ten times faster charging than a standard 3-pin “granny” charger with no fixed installation

Cord, the British e-mobility innovator committed to making EV charging positively easy, has launched EVIRA — a professional grade portable charger that transforms any compliant CEE Commando socket into a superfast EV charging point.

Designed for trade professionals, fleet operators, workshops and site teams, EVIRA delivers up to ten times faster charging than a standard 3-pin “granny” charger with no fixed installation, groundworks or landlord permissions needed.

Four versions are available:

  • Multi-power model (2.3 kW → 22 kW) with interchangeable plug-set for 3-pin and CEE commando sockets

  • 22kW (3 phase 32A CEE)

  • 11kW (1 phase 16A CEE)

  • 7.4kW (3 phase 32A CEE)

Matt Clevely, Managing Director at Cleevely Electric Vehicles, said:

“Cord clearly understands the real-world needs of technicians and dealerships so I was keen to be involved in developing EVIRA. It delivers the same performance you’d expect from a fixed wall charger, but without the costs of permanent installation or the limitations of being fixed in one place. "

"In our workshop, the ability to move it from ramp to ramp saves time, reduces vehicle shuffling, and keeps jobs flowing. Its multi-layered safety systems give technicians genuine peace of mind, whether they’re charging on the forecourt, in the PDI bay, or out in the elements. EVIRA is a rugged, professional tool that offers the flexibility and cost-effectiveness our industry needs to make EV servicing and preparation easier”

EVIRA is smarter, safer, more adaptable and features adjustable current (8 A–32 A), a delay start timer for off-peak charging, and a set charge amount function to control energy delivery by kWh or session time. The built-in LCD screen shows voltage, current, power, energy delivered and elapsed time in real-time.

Built for even the harshest environments, EVIRA is IK10 impact-resistant, IP65 weatherproof, operates from –25 °C to +40 °C, and comes with a two-year warranty.

Its multi-layer safety system includes overcurrent, AC and DC leakage, over-temperature, surge, ground and over/under voltage protection.

James Hylton, Co-Founder of Cord, said:

“This is the next step in making EV charging truly accessible – wherever you are. EVIRA combines high performance with genuine portability, meeting the demand for fast, hassle-free charging at any location, whether it’s a PDI site, a fleet depot, or the side of a motorway.”
