BTCC team Plato Racing enters administration

Plato Racing Limited, based in Northamptonshire, has put its assets, intellectual property, commercial partnerships and operational infrastructure on the market

A British Touring Car Championship outfit has been placed into administration, with its racing operation now being offered to prospective buyers.

Plato Racing Limited, based in Northamptonshire, has put its assets, intellectual property, commercial partnerships and operational infrastructure on the market. The sale is being promoted as an opportunity to take over an established BTCC operation, complete with race cars, experienced engineering staff, drivers and existing sponsorship relationships.

The move comes just weeks after the team achieved its first outright BTCC race victory at Knockhill. Adam Morgan took the chequered flag ahead of team-mate Daniel Rowbottom, securing a memorable 1-2 finish for the outfit.

The pair continued their strong form in the following two races, both claiming second-place finishes and strengthening their positions inside the championship's top 10.

Despite those on-track results, the company's financial position has proved more challenging. Sale documentation shows turnover of £545,073 against overheads of approximately £1.38 million, leaving the business with an operating loss of £835,097.

Court records confirm that notice of the appointment of an administrator was filed on 11 August 2026. Pantera Valuation Services has subsequently been instructed to market the operation on behalf of the joint administrators.

Included in the sale are the assets and infrastructure supporting the team's BTCC programme, including two Mercedes-AMG A35 race cars developed in-house.

Plato Racing has built its presence in the championship relatively quickly, establishing an operation capable of designing, developing and running its own machinery while bringing together experienced engineers, mechanics and drivers.

The outcome of the sales process will now determine what happens next for the team. For a potential buyer, the package represents an opportunity to acquire an existing route into the BTCC, backed by race-ready assets, technical expertise and established commercial relationships.
