Harper Adams Rally Team Calls on for Support Ahead of Protyre Asphalt Rally Championship
The Rallying the Wright Way team, based at Harper Adams University are preparing for the upcoming season in the Protyre Asphalt Rally Championship, the UK’s leading asphalt rally series, and is actively seeking support from the automotive aftermarket to help sustain and develop its student-ran motorsport programme.
Led by Team Principle and driver Charlie Wright, the team is run entirely by Harper Adams University students, who are responsible for every aspect of the operation. From vehicle preparation and maintenance through to logistics, marketing, and partner engagement, the project mirrors the realities of a professional motorsport team while giving students invaluable hands-on industry experience.
Competing in asphalt rallying places significant demands on both vehicle and team. High-grip surfaces accelerate wear on critical components such as tyres, brakes, suspension, and driveline parts, making reliability and preparation essential. As with many teams operating at this level, the costs involved in competing are substantial, and financial backing is not always the most effective or practical form of support.
Instead, the Harper Adams University Rally Team is keen to build long-term technical partnerships with businesses across the automotive aftermarket. Support in the form of parts supply, consumables, technical expertise, specialist services and tooling can be just as valuable as direct funding, helping to keep the car competitive and on the stages throughout the season.
Charlie Wright commented: “Support from the automotive aftermarket is incredibly important to us. We don’t see it as a traditional sponsorship arrangement, but as a technical partnership. Access to parts, knowledge, and facilities has a real impact on our performance and reliability, and it also gives students the opportunity to learn directly from experienced professionals. That exposure to the industry is a huge part of what makes this programme so valuable.”
For aftermarket businesses, partnering with the Rallying the Wright Way team offers exposure within UK grassroots motorsport while supporting the development of future engineers, technicians, and industry professionals. It also provides an opportunity to showcase products and expertise in a demanding real-world environment where performance and reliability truly matter.
