Jimmy Carr Linked with Top Gear Role – Chris Evans Says: “Couldn’t Get Anyone Better”

Comedian Jimmy Carr has been linked with a potential role as the new presenter of Top Gear, with speculation continuing to grow around who could front the next chapter of the iconic motoring programme.

Garage Talk was at CarFest last week, where we attempted to ask Jimmy Carr directly about the rumours surrounding a possible Top Gear role. However, Carr politely declined to comment when approached.

While we didn’t manage to get an answer from the man himself, we did catch up with former Top Gear presenter Chris Evans to ask what he thought about the possibility of Jimmy Carr taking the wheel.

His response was short, but certainly positive. “Couldn't get anyone better, could you?”

Evans, who famously presented Top Gear alongside Matt LeBlanc following the departure of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, clearly believes Carr would be an excellent choice for the role.

Jimmy Carr is no stranger to television, having become one of Britain's best-known comedians and presenters through shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

His sharp wit, quick-fire humour and ability to handle unpredictable situations could potentially make him an interesting fit for a programme that has always combined cars, entertainment and personality.

At this stage, there has been no official confirmation regarding Jimmy Carr's involvement with Top Gear, and the comedian himself was not prepared to discuss the speculation at CarFest.

But if Chris Evans has anything to say about it, the BBC may already have found its man.

The question now is whether Jimmy Carr will actually be taking the wheel.
