  • Motul lubricated and supported teams win their categories at this year’s Le Mans 24 hours, as happened in 2024.

  • Manthey Porsche takes Le Mans LMGT3 category honours again.

  • Inter Europol victorious in LMP2 category

  • Gibson announced as engine supplier for next generation LMP2 Cars

The 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours proved to be a fruitful hunting ground for Motul, as cars lubricated with its products again took the honours in both the LMP2 and LMGT3 categories.

Motul-lubricated partner teams, using the brand’s legendary 300V engine oil, took victory in the LMP2 category - with the number 43 Inter Europol Oreca 07 piloted by Jakub Smiechowski, Tom Dillman and Nick Yelloly - and in the LMGT3 category, with the #92 Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R of Ryan Hardwick, Riccardo Pera and Richard Lietz.

More than half a century after it launched the era of Fully Synthetic car engine oils,

Motul’s flagship 300V lubricant continues to be the standard by which other competition lubricants measure themselves. Inspired by the Aviation industry, Motul used vegetable esters to produce 300V – named in honour of the brand’s 300 race victories – which was introduced into the market in 1971. Over time, Motul has refined the 300V range and it now boasts four different variants, each tailored to specific needs: Power, Competition and Le Mans, the latter designed for maximum reliability.

Having finished as runners-up in 2024, Motul partner team, Inter Europol Racing was able to go one better this year, emerging as winners of this extremely hard-fought category, despite having to contend with a drive-through penalty, late in the race.

LMP2 cars are currently all powered by the same 600 BHP 4.2 litre V8 Gibson GK428 engines and the important announcement was made at Le Mans that Gibson would continue as the engine provider for the next generation of LMP2 cars. After a period where all the chassis were provided by Oreca, from 2028 onwards, customers will be able to choose either Oreca or Ligier cars and, as longtime technology partners of Gibson, this means that Motul 300V will continue to be the oil that all the LMP2 cars leave the factory with.

The move from LMGTE spec cars to the more widely adopted LMGT3 cars in 2024, has meant that barriers to entering and running a car in WEC/Le Mans have eased and, like the Hypercar category, this means it attracts a wide selection of manufacturers. This year again there were nine in all, making it one of the most competitive of all endurance categories. At the end of 24 hours, it was the Motul-lubricated #92 Porsche 911 GT3R LMGT3 of Manthey Racing that took the category honours – the second victory in a row at Le Mans for the Manthey organisation.

“Le Mans is incredible. When you consider what a difficult test it is simply to get a car to the finish, the pace and closeness of the racing simply defies logic,” enthuses Motul UK and Ireland Head of Business, Andy Wait. “The whole of the 24 Hours is run seemingly flat-out and is so incredibly competitive. Huge congratulations to all the Motul entries that finished, and particularly, of course, to all our teams who won or made the podium. It’s another amazing chapter in Motul’s competition history and a superb endorsement of our products – and those who use them.”
