Available Car adds RAC Scratch and Dent insurance to portfolio

Scratch and Dent

Available Car has added RAC Scratch and Dent insurance to its aftersales portfolio, offering the product to all of its customers from this week.

The car supermarket – which has two sites in the Midlands and retails over 20,000 vehicles annually – will offer cover for periods from one to four years with a maximum of five claims per 12 month period.

Michael Bell, CEO at Available Car, explained: “We have suggested RAC Tyre and Alloy Wheel to our customers for some time and it has proven to be a popular option, so it is natural move to also add RAC Scratch and Dent insurance to our portfolio.

“We are very much of the opinion that a growing proportion of customers are actively interested in taking products of this kind as part of their car purchase, and cosmetic protection today forms part an increasingly important element in our overall proposition.

“People deeply trust the RAC brand, so there is a high level of interest when we introduce car buyers to the range as part of the sales process, and the cover provided is excellent. It’s very much a matter of delivering the right answer to an existing customer need.”

Sean Kent, Director, Automotive Europe at Assurant, which partners with the RAC in the aftersales space, explained that his company had recently revised its cosmetic product offering and was seeing greater take up from a range of dealers as a result.

“In the last quarter of 2023, Assurant took insurance and claims processing elements for the cosmetic range in-house and also appointed a single partner, Revive, for all repairs nationwide. We now have more control over the whole process and the result is a very strong proposition for dealers and their customers.

“Last month, we announced Carbase as a customer for the RAC cosmetic warranties range and are very pleased to now be able to add Available Car. These are both major car retail businesses with which we have long term relationships and it is very pleasing to see them introduce more of our products.

“We aim to offer a high level of support to our partners and are working with dealers offering our scratch and dent, and tyre and alloy wheel products, ensuring that their benefits are marketed as successfully as possible to customers who may be receptive to cover of this kind.”
