As best practice, Simply Brands recommends replacing bulbs annually and in pairs to ensure drivers do not suffer a blown bulb in the middle of the night on country roads where lighting is minimal. Simply Brands is urging workshops and factors to not dismiss their bulb sales just because of the weather or season, in fact there are opportunities year round to educate drivers on the importance of regularly checking and upgrading the bulbs in their vehicle.

Simply Brands’ Business Development Manager, Sam Robinson, said: “Bulbs are a safety critical component at any time in the year, if drivers can’t see the road in front of them, they shouldn’t be driving.

“Factors and technicians should be making the most of every conversation they have with their customers, as ultimately it leads to a better bottom line for them and provides valuable information and guidance for their customers. It’s not just the component the industry should be helping with, it’s assistance when it comes to fitment.

“Depending on the vehicle, replacing a bulb can still take just minutes and can be done by drivers at home. However, newer vehicles increasingly need time and skill to change a bulb – as some even require the bumper to come off – which can create a new revenue stream for workshops and factors and result in a better customer experience, as they can be informing the driver of this and to saving them the worry of having to try and fit one themselves.”
