Fix Auto Felixstowe Pioneers UK Refinish Revolution with Axalta Irus Mix

In a major move for the UK vehicle repair sector, Fix Auto Felixstowe has completed its installation of the Axalta Irus Mix

In a major move for the UK vehicle repair sector, Fix Auto Felixstowe has completed its installation of the Axalta Irus Mix, the fastest fully automated and completely hands-free mixing machine for the automotive refinish industry.

Fix Auto Felixstowe, an award-winning and manufacturer-approved repair centre within the Fix Auto network, decided on the installation following a comprehensive evaluation of the market's leading paint technology platforms. The family-run business made the strategic decision to transition all paint operations to Axalta after reviewing the capabilities of the Axalta Irus Mix.

The installation cements the Suffolk-based repair centre's reputation as an industry innovator. Fix Auto Felixstowe was among the first in the region to adopt semi-automated mixing several years ago. This upgrade to Axalta’s fully automated, hands-free system sets a new benchmark for high-volume, quality-driven repair workflows in the UK.

Sam Patterson, Operations Manager of Fix Auto Felixstowe, says, “Once we saw the capability of Axalta’s fully automated system, the decision was straightforward. The technology aligns perfectly with our focus on efficiency, accuracy, and future-proofing our operation. We always strive to work more efficiently, drive more profit, and operate sustainably. Thanks to Axalta Irus Mix, we can achieve high-precision formulation, reduced material waste, and consistent repeatability, while saving more than 60% on labour time compared to manual mixing.”

Andrey Runovich, Country Manager UK & Ireland at Axalta Refinish, adds, “Axalta Irus Mix is game-changing technology, and we are delighted that Fix Auto Felixstowe is going to reap the benefits. When we designed Axalta Irus Mix, our goal was to build a fast, fully automated, completely hands-free mixing machine. For Axalta, this installation demonstrates a growing market demand for automation that enhances productivity while maintaining the highest standards of colour accuracy.”
