FixMyCar under new ownership through management buyout
FixMyCar, which operates under WhoCanFixMyCar.com Ltd, completed a successful management buyout process today from its parent company Niterra EMEA GmbH (formerly NGK SPARK PLUG).
The leading car repair platform which started 14 years ago was acquired by Niterra EMEA GmbH in May 2023. Following a strategic review of its portfolio, Niterra determined that a management buyout represents an appropriate long-term ownership structure for FixMyCar, enabling the company to continue its development independently and to further scale within its specific market environment.
The management buyout team consists of Amanda Webb, who will stay in position as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ben Darby who will move from Marketing Director to Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Matt Wrankmore, who will now step into a Chief Customer Officer (CCO) role from Head of Garage Network.
The new C-suite will benefit from Webb’s 20+ years senior leadership across start-up, scale-ups and VC backed businesses, Darby’s 15+ years leadership across automotive marketplaces, including the FTSE 100’s Auto Trader, as well as Wrankmore’s 20+ experience specialising in the development and growth of garage and retail workstreams.
Speaking on behalf of the new management team, FixMyCar CEO Amanda Webb said, “This management buyout presents a fantastic opportunity for FixMyCar and its employees, at a time of great change within the UK aftermarket.
FixMyCar has sat at the heart of the UK aftermarket ecosystem for over a decade, and we are excited to lead the company into the next phase of its growth story; as we see wider adoption of drivers using online car repair bookings and strengthening our partnerships with UK garages and SMR partners.”
Damien Germès, President & CEO Niterra EMEA GmbH, commented, “Following a strategic review of our activities in the EMEA region and in alignment with our updated Group portfolio strategy, we concluded that an independent ownership structure provides a suitable framework for FixMyCar’s continued development. We thank the management team for their commitment and wish them success in the next phase of the company’s evolution.”
