Major opportunity for independents as demand for air suspension expertise grows

GSF Car Parts is urging independent garages to capitalise on sustained demand for air suspension work, driven by an aging car parc which has risen to 9.5 years old in the UK, and the rise of tech-laden electric vehicles (EVs) entering regular MOT cycles.

Motorists are increasingly holding onto their cars due to cost-of-living pressures and improved reliability. At the same time, EVs (typically heavier than ICE equivalents) place greater loads on chassis components, increasing the potential for wear and tear. These trends point to long-term, high-value workshop demand for suspension expertise.

Air suspension is a growing area in the passenger car industry. Up until recently, high costs and unfamiliar technology meant most garages would only consider an OEM-origin product.

Kevin Rogers, Product Manager at GSF, said: “Air suspension and adaptive ride systems can be expensive and difficult to source in the aftermarket. With Amtex, we offer a smarter solution.”

Steve Horne, CEO, GSF Car Parts, added: “Investing in air suspension work is something we see as crucial for garages, but needs to be done sustainably. No matter what the vehicle parc looks like in 10 or 15 years' time, there’s still going to be demand for suspension. These jobs are often labour intensive and require specialist knowledge.”
