Ruellans Garage Finds Untapped Customer Base Resulting in 80% Conversion Rate

A Jersey-based garage has revealed that tracking digital leads through its new website uncovered an unexpected source of new business, with 80 per cent of online enquiries converting into booked work.

Ruellans Garage, a mainstay on the island for more than three decades, had assumed its market was fully saturated. But the launch of a new website, built by specialist provider Garage Services Online (GSO), has shown otherwise. Owner, Andrew Ruellan, can now monitor exactly who is finding the garage, where the leads are coming from, and what services customers are requesting.

Despite being based on a small island with a close-knit population, Andrew was surprised by how many new customers discovered them through the website.

“I didn’t think we’d pick up many new customers on Jersey, but we’ve had enquiries from people who didn’t know we existed, even after 30 years,” said Andrew. “That’s when you realise how powerful the right kind of website can be.

“We know where the email enquiries are coming from. The website lets us track leads, monitor conversions, and see if it’s a first-time customer. And 95 percent of the enquiries are bang on. They’re exactly the kind of work we want.”

“When the old site went down, the fix cost was more than half the price of the new one,” he said. “It wasn’t doing anything for us. With GSO, we now have a website that I don’t have to think about and that delivers actual results.

The business has 14 staff, including four Level 4 EV technicians. Now, 10% of its work is on EVs; a service many customers didn’t realise Ruellans offered until seeing it online.

“The EV side of the business is growing, and the website makes that clear. Customers didn’t expect it from us, but now it’s front and centre.”
