Valeo Tech Academy combines online and in-person training to minimise workshop downtime

Valeo Service UK is expanding its Tech Academy to help independent garages tackle a major commercial challenge

Valeo Service UK is expanding its Tech Academy to help independent garages tackle a major commercial challenge: maintaining workshop productivity while technicians develop the skills needed to service increasingly complex vehicles.

Valeo Tech Academy combines flexible digital training with focused practical sessions, helping garages develop technician skills while minimising lost billable labour.

“Independent garages are caught in a genuine productivity bind,” said a Valeo Spokesperson. “Workshop owners understand that upskilling on electric vehicles, thermal management and advanced transmission systems is vital for the future of their businesses. However, taking a productive technician off the tools for days at a time leaves ramps empty and hits cash flow hard.”

Valeo’s highly popular blended learning programme means technicians can build their knowledge around existing workshop workloads while minimising the time they need to spend away from the workshop.

Technicians have access to more than 120 hours of digital training through Valeo Tech Academy, delivered through concise five- to 30-minute on-demand modules and live interactive webinars.

The digital training is complemented by focused, IMI-accredited practical sessions. Using advanced educational simulators featuring more than 150 real-world fault-finding and diagnostic scenarios, technicians can develop hands-on skills in a controlled environment before applying them to vehicles in the workshop.

The spokesperson added: “By delivering bite-sized digital learning that technicians can complete around their daily workload, paired with targeted, simulator-based practical training, we are making industry-recognised IMI accreditation accessible and commercially viable for independent workshops of every size.”
