Radical Rogues Rally Powers Through Storm Amy — Raising Over £23,000 for Dementia Research
The Radical Rogues Rally 2025 has been hailed a huge success after completing its epic route last weekend — despite battling torrential rain and gale-force winds brought by Storm Amy.
The charity driving event, in support of Race Against Dementia, saw participants set off from the Lake District, travel north through the Scottish Borders, before looping back down through County Durham and finishing in the Peak District.
Organised by James Worthington, co-owner of MyWorkwear, the Rally brought together a convoy of performance cars, classics and modern vehicles — all united by a single goal: to help fund vital dementia research.
“We knew the weather would test us this year, but the determination and spirit of every driver was incredible,” said James Worthington. “We pushed through flooded roads, sideways rain and howling winds — but knowing it was all for dementia research kept us going. Every drenched mile meant something.”
The cause is deeply personal to Worthington, who lost his father, Mike, to Alzheimer’s in 2021. Since then, the Radical Rogues Rally has become an annual fixture, raising funds and awareness for Race Against Dementia, the charity founded by Sir Jackie Stewart OBE.
Despite the wild conditions, camaraderie and community spirit were in full force, with local residents along the route cheering on the soaked but smiling participants, offering refreshments, and helping to lift spirits throughout the journey.
This year’s Rally has so far raised over £23,000 through its JustGiving page — more than doubling last year’s total — with additional offline donations still to come.
“Raising awareness is just as important as raising money,” added Worthington. “Storm Amy reminded us that dementia doesn’t wait for fair weather — and neither can we.”
