Assurant wins major new warranty deal with Group 1

• RAC Warranty-branded products to be provided across all UK dealerships 

A recently signed deal will see Group 1 Automotive UK adopt a range of Assurant’s warranty products across all the dealer group’s UK locations. 

RAC Warranty-branded coverage – provided through Assurant’s longstanding partnership with the motoring organisation – will be used for all non-franchise used vehicles.

Sean Kent, managing director of Assurant automotive for Europe, explained the new agreement was a significant enhancement of an existing arrangement.

“We have a relationship with Group 1 dating back several years and already provide warranties at a number of their sites. Following their recent growth, we are very pleased to have been chosen as warranty supplier across all their dealerships.

“Key factors in their decision included Assurant’s global scale and in-depth expertise, as well as the unrivalled recognition enjoyed by the RAC in the used car market. This may be one of the largest motor warranty deals signed in the UK this year and we see it very much as a recognition of our core strengths.”

All customers receiving these warranties from Group 1 will receive the advanced Vehicle Care by Assurant app, which provides a fast and easy means to manage all actions linked to RAC Warranty products through Apple iOS and Android devices, as well as an online portal.

Sean added: “We’ve invested heavily in our digital infrastructure in recent years. Our app, introduced less than a year ago, makes it easier for vehicle buyers to use our services 24/7, while allowing dealers to notify their customers about product information and keep in touch with new offers. This was part of our service offering that very much impressed Group 1.”
