Auto Windscreens predicts busy Easter following cold snap
Living up to its name, ‘manic Monday’, Auto Windscreens experienced one of its busiest ever Mondays on record for glass repair and replacement bookings, via its network, contact centre and online, on 5 January. This represents an 29% increase on ‘manic Monday’ on 6 January last year. Following lower average UK temperatures than last year, the snow and frost combined with the return to work has led to a ‘perfect storm’ for drivers experiencing stone chips and cracks. However, the company predicts if the colder temperatures remain, it could be in for an even busier Easter.
James MacBeth, Managing Director of Auto Windscreens explains: “Frosts break down road surfaces, but it’s when they’ve gone that we see the most debris and potholes, which can lead to stone chips. Changes in temperature can also cause chips to crack, which is why we’re seeing an increase in appointments now. But we may not see a peak in windscreen replacements until the warmer weather arrives. Our advice to drivers is to regularly check for damage and get chips repaired before they have the chance to crack.”
