DENSO further improves its LOTM technical training platform
Thousands of technicians from throughout Europe will be delighted to learn that DENSO has once again brought several new modules and interactive technical training opportunities into its highly respected League of True Mechanics online portal.
Over the years, DENSO’s League of True Mechanics (LOTM) has developed a reputation for delivering first class technical instruction and education to aftermarket professionals, within a competitive format. However, in common with every original concept, to continue to provide them with the insight they need, refinements are naturally made to ensure it not only delivers the relevant content required, but is also available to the widest possible audience.
Therefore, in order to continue to promote educational excellence within the industry, the LOTM initiative is evolving to make it easier to access the valuable information it contains. For example, to assist with navigating the information and identifying the most relevant modules for businesses and individuals, they are now divided under their product category, with the number of separate modules within each category clearly stated. Helpfully, each is defined whether it’s part of the LOTM competition (with an icon) or not.
As in previous years, the LOTM e-learning programme provides detailed technical information about DENSO products and the interactive online modules are based on study material, followed by final exams. However, at any point during the module, users may see a spinning D-coin, which if they click on will reveal a mini quiz, where they can earn an extra point for a correct answer.
Although the modules without the competition icon have no limit of the number of attempts required to reach a ‘pass’, those with the icon need to be completed successfully within the first three attempts. Upon successful completion of a course, users can download a final certificate and collect more points.
When it comes to course content, the newly added modules naturally focus on the latest vehicle technology, which is why hybrid and battery electric vehicle (BEV) related course are growing in number. These provide users with the skills, important tips and safety measures necessary to allow them to work on these vehicles with confidence.
High voltage battery systems are complicated and so it is vital that technicians are aware of the issues, which include the battery state of charge and state of health, as well as maintaining the correct cooling and balance of the batteries. In addition, new modules concentration on the heat pumps system will be added, as the overall thermal management of a BEV is particularly important. However, the availability of individual courses may vary by country.
Irrespective as to whether a user has registered for the LOTM competition, or simply wants to expand their knowledge and improve their skills, each is rewarded to reflect their overall activity. So, the more modules completed, the more points are earned, which all go towards their personal ranking and will define their status as a DENSO Beginner, Advanced or Master. Further points are available for rating and sharing the modules, but naturally, only after they are completed successfully. All this information can be found by each user in the ‘My Activity’ section in their profile.
“It’s important to state that registration and access to all the technical information in our e-learning courses is completely free of charge,” reminds Tereza Čechová, Marketing & Communications and Project Lead of LOTM portal. “This is part of our ongoing effort to position DENSO as a leader in aftermarket education and in delivering technical knowledge to a broader audience, and this e-learning portal, currently available in more than 20 language versions, will also help strengthen brand awareness and enhance DENSO’s visibility across European markets.”
