FER engages with industry leaders at Remanufacturing Committee meeting
The Federation of Engine Remanufacturers (FER) joined key stakeholders from across the automotive sector at the latest Remanufacturing Committee meeting, held at Michelin’s Stoke-on-Trent facility on 16 July.
Bringing together industry experts, policymakers and sustainability leaders, the meeting provided FER with an important platform to engage in discussions shaping the future of remanufacturing and the wider circular economy.
FER representatives were able to contribute to discussions on policy developments, as Andrew Harries of SMMT delivered an update on current government affairs and legislative priorities affecting the sector. This was complemented by a sustainability and circular economy update from Andy Poole, highlighting ongoing industry efforts to drive environmental responsibility.
A key focus for FER was the remanufacturing update session, which explored several initiatives directly relevant to the federation’s members. Topics included the formation of an automotive remanufacturing sub-group within BSI, progress on refreshing the Oakdene Hollins 2014 report, and updates on collaborative projects with Brighton University and the Circular Economy Institute.
The meeting also provided insight into practical applications of remanufacturing, including developments at the Autocraft REVIVE® Vehicle Workshop at Long Bennington, showcasing how circular economy principles are being implemented in real-world environments.
Rod Bennett, Operations Manager at FER, commented: “Attending the Remanufacturing Committee meeting was an excellent opportunity for us to engage directly with key stakeholders across the industry.”
“The discussions highlighted the growing importance of remanufacturing in delivering sustainable solutions, and it was particularly valuable to see the progress being made across standards, policy and collaborative projects.”
“As a federation, we remain committed to representing our members and ensuring their expertise helps shape the future direction of the sector.”
